Size guide.

Bat length is set by your height; pick-up weight is set by how you play. Below is the full ladder from junior Size 4 up to a Short Handle, then pad and glove charts to match.

Pick-up weights are a guide, not a rule. A well-balanced 2lb 10oz can feel lighter through the shot than a poorly-pressed 2lb 8oz — always judge a bat by how it comes up in the hands, not the number on the sticker.

how to measure
  1. Height for bat length

Stand the player against a wall in socks and measure to the crown. Length follows height — start there, then choose the pick-up.

  2. Ankle-bone for pads

Measure from the top of the ankle bone to the middle of the kneecap. The top strap should finish just above the knee.

  3. Hand span for gloves

Lay the batting hand flat. Fingertips should sit about a half-inch inside the glove — snug enough to feel the handle.

a scorer's note

Growing juniors: size down, not up.

It is tempting to buy a size big “to last the season.” Don't. A bat that is too long or too heavy pulls a young player across the line and teaches bad habits. A correctly-sized bat they can actually pick up is worth more than one they grow into by August.
